James Rassi

Born and raised in the West Island of Montreal, Dr. James Rassi earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from McGill University, before relocating to Australia to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Melbourne. He returned home to Montreal in 2012, after graduating with Honours, and has since worked alongside some of the most respected vets in and around Montreal.

Dr. Rassi enjoys the challenges that come with being a veterinarian, whether it is caring for the animals, performing a difficult surgery, or educating the public. He currently works for the MTLVET network and has been recently concentrating on advancing animal welfare in Quebec. Outspoken against declawing, he hopes the Nova Scotia ban on the practice will push Quebec to do the same.

In his spare time, Dr. Rassi supports various shelters and rescue organizations. In 2014, after fostering dogs for Rosie Animal Adoption, he adopted Squirrel, a small chihuahua-yorkie mix, who follows him everywhere.
