Dog Rescue: Off Nun’s Island

JAN 25 UPDATE: This dog is, indeed Bosco! And will be reunited with his family today!

Thank you to a friend of Montreal Dog Blog for letting us know about this dog rescue between Verdun and Nun’s Island.  We are thankful to be able to share these images from Michael Rander – who witnessed the rescue!

This was the scene yesterday on the water between Verdun and Nun’s Island. Michael works in a nearby office space. He spotted the dog on the ice and called 911, to find out the Fire Department was already on their way.

A dog is stranded on the ice off Nun's Island.

Michael sent this photo to show that the dog was indeed rescued – he was kept low on the boat bottom.

Rescued!

The dog appears to be a German Shepherd.  There are two Shepherds that are lost right now in Montreal: Bosco and Shanghai.  We guess this might be Bosco as he was last spotted in the Verdun area a couple of days ago.  We hope to have an update to this story as soon as we can. As soon as we know – we’ll update this piece!

Thank you to vigilant Montrealers and to the Montreal Fire Department for coming to the aid of this displaced doggie!
