We are retiring our blog!

After 9 years and 2.5 million visits, MontrealDogBlog.com to retire blog

Hi, I’m Nat Lauzon – founder of Montreal Dog Blog.  It is with a sad but grateful heart, that I announce the Montreal Dog Blog website will be coming to a close.

MDB launched in September 2010 – inspired by a 4lb dog named Flea.  She was a puppy mill rescue that changed my life and I felt compelled to create a space that would educate people about the importance of pet adoption and of abolishing puppy mills in Quebec.   Quickly, a solid team of like-minded bloggers formed.  Over the years, these volunteers crafted a unique online space that has entertained and informed pet owners in Montreal – and beyond!

100% charity-driven, our generous advertisers and fundraising efforts have helped us raise close to $40,000 for local animal rescues over the years! We are so proud of this accomplishment and thank our incredible advertisers and readers for believing in us and supporting us for so long.

Bloggers

The “heart and soul” of our blog has always been our team of dedicated bloggers – from veterinarians, trainers and groomers – to those in animal rescue and every day folks who share their lives with pets.  Each of them, volunteering their time to share their passion for animals.   I have felt so honoured to know people who want to work for free – to be part of the greater good.  You can find their contributions under “Search by Blog” on www.montrealdogblog.com.   These amazing individuals and their unique and engaging blogs are the reason we can credit 2.5 million visits to our website.

I’m happy to say that MDB’s current content will remain online indefinitely as a source of free information.   With close to 2000 articles of searchable content, we believe it can continue to educate and entertain pet owners for years to come.

Montreal Dog Blog will continue on

We’re not gone!  As the social media landscape changes, so too does the medium in which we connect with people and pets.  Blogging no longer seems to fulfill that need.  So, we will go where that audience is!

We’re still here – just in a different format. You can find us connecting with our community almost 10,000 strong on Facebook. We are also on Twitter @montrealdogblog.  Look for us at your local pet events – and who knows what else the future will bring!

As a recognized Quebec charity, we will continue to fundraise for local animal rescues.  We will continue to keep Montrealers apprised of animal news that affects them.  In short, we will continue to entertain, educate and help the animals we love so much.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the two women who have been with me since the very beginning – rescue blogger Liliana Danel and certified trainer, Meira Frankl.  These excellent humans became my friends and then equal partners at Montreal Dog Blog when we acquired charity status.  The last few years would have been a struggle without their dedication.

Thank you

Thank you so much for visiting our blog for 9 beautiful years. Thank you for your trust. We are honoured to have provided such a wonderful place for pets and their people and hope we can continue to do that, regardless of where we may be!

Time to write the next chapter.

With deepest gratitude,

Nat Lauzon
