It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Yes it is, because this is the time of year for our Annual Paw It Forward Campaign, where through the generosity of our advertisers AND followers, we are able to donate funds to our local rescue community.
We are proud to announce that we are able to donate $4500 this year!
Where the money comes from:
The money comes from our generous advertisers on this blog (over there on the right hand side AND in the “Resources” drop-down menu).
This year, for the first time – we also launched a Go Fund Me fundraiser to raise even more money! As an added incentive, everyone who donated was in to win a sweet raffle prize too!
We couldn’t give back without you folks! Thank you so much for your support!
Who’s Getting Big Fat Checks this year:
The money has been divided up among our four top bloggers, so they can donate to whichever rescue(s) they like. They each have $1125 to gift this year. Let’s see who they chose and why.

Thank you Montreal Dog Blog for Paw it Forward!
I would like to donate $300 to Rosie Animal Adoption – they still organize a great group, and dogs that are fostered have a good chance of finding a forever home.
I would like to donate $300 to Animatch– who also do a wonderful job of finding homes for our four legged friends. They have had their trials this year, but managed to find a new location, thanks to their dedicated volunteers.
$300 to Le Nichoir– who are in my back yard. Their new facility has allowed more birds to be rehabilitated, and be returned to the wild. What would our world be without birdsong?
Finally, $225 to Chatopia– who take the time to find homes for our feline friends. Great year everybody! Safe and happy holidays.

Thank you so very much for the MDB team and the followers of the blog for making this possible!I am very grateful for all the love given by the supporters of our online community. This year, I made the decision for this year’s Paw It Forward, based on what got our readers engaged and what I felt that matter the most in our city: Horses, those helping the homeless with their companion animals and the spay/neuter clinic that continues making an impact in reducing animal population to our city.
Here are my choices:
500$ Velvet Hearts Canada – Velvet Hearts is an association, advocating for public safety and animal welfare. This year, they were the first rescue to step up for the companion animals of the homeless of Montreal. They recently did a fundraiser to help buy things for those that are the most vulnerable during this winter season. They are also selling raffle tickets to continue fundraising for the homeless dogs at The Open Door / La Porte Ouverte MTL, which remains one of the only shelters in the Montreal community that allows those who are homeless or experiencing housing difficulties – to access the shelter space accompanied of their animals.
500$ Refuge RR – Refuge RR cares for and provides a peaceful life for more than 250 animals. Without the support of the community and donors, the refuge can not continue its marvelous mission that drastically changes the lives of all those beings who were destined for the slaughterhouse or abandonment from past caregivers. Just recently, they helped a The little stallion who was left to fend for himself in the wild: https://goo.gl/iuLRSa
They also helped twelve little hens, 3 roosters, 2 ducks and two turkeys are now safe from the brutal cold winter . These poor babies were left outside in -20 temperatures with no heat or building to keep warm: https://goo.gl/o5nuhp
125$ Best Friends Spay/Neuter Clinic -For the team of Dr. Glew to continue helping deserving families and their companion animals receive the appropriate care and procedures that help reduce animal population, and help spread the knowledge of responsible companion animal care. The money can be used to help animals rescued by rescues that need the procedures done. I’ve had so much fun blogging for Montreal Dog Blog this past year. It’s allowed me the privilege of meeting some truly wonderful people who work tirelessly in the service of animal rescues. Thank you to the whole team.
I would like to split my lump sum of $1,125 between the Montreal SPCA ($625) and the Ottawa Humane Society ($500).
Getting the chance to work with members of the Montreal SPCA this year was inspiring. They are so committed to the cause of animal-welfare and have such a vibrant and creative staff in charge of their programs. My hat goes off to them.
My wife and I will forever be grateful to the Ottawa Humane Society. Without them we would never have found our little Buster and our lives would be sadly short on floppy-eared mischief.

Paw It Forward Campaign 2018
It’s that most wonderful time of the year again! The time we all look forward to, where we get to give back to our local rescue community. This year we are giving away the most we ever have in our eight years of donating! A total whopping $4,500! That’s a whole lot of dollars! And we could never have done it without all of you!
Thanks to all of our advertisers who helped make this possible. You are our backbone, and we can’t thank you enough. So thanks on behalf of all the rescues, who wouldn’t be receiving these donations if it weren’t for you.
Then I would like to thank all of you! All our loyal, generous readers and followers, for making our Go Fund Me campaign an amazingly huge success! I am so humbled by how generous you’ve all been!
I am thrilled to be able to donate my portion of $1125 to two very deserving rescues this year.
Service d’Intervention Animale Rive Nord (Guylaine Nadeau)
Guylaine is seriously one of the biggest unsung heroes in local animal rescue, both with domestic pets and local wildlife. She doesn’t like to be in the spotlight very much, and doesn’t take nearly enough credit for all the hard work that she does. You may not know her name, but you have probably heard about the wide variety of animals that she’s helped over the years.
Guylaine has an insanely busy schedule, working in a kennel for border control dogs, as well as being the local dog catcher in the Vaudreuil Soulange area, as well as being the one who everyone calls for help when they encounter injured wildlife in need of help. She’s also the lady that everyone knows to contact if they’ve lost their dog.
Injured birds? Owls who’ve been hit by cars? Ducks with broken wings? Porcupines who need medical help? Mangy fox or coyotes? Guylaine knows them all and has helped hundreds. She also has all the necessary papers required to work with said wildlife. Day or night, she drives all over the area, North Shore, South Shore, Vaudreuil Soulange and even Ontario, to help animals in need. You’ve even read about some of the animals she’s helped here on the Montreal Dog Blog, as she’s taken animals in need for help to Timberlea Vet Clinic, with our very own Dr Amanda Glew.
She has also helped capture and return so many lost dogs, when no one else had been able to, despite their best efforts. When anyone loses a dog that hadn’t been found, I always refer them to Guylaine. Always.
She is seriously a one of a kind that Guylaine!
I am thrilled to be able to donate $575 to the Service d’Intervention Animale Rive Nord!
Plenty of Paws Rescue
I am also proud to donate the remaining $550 to Evelyn of POP (Plenty of Paws) rescue. Evelyn does some amazing work, and takes on almost any animal in need of rescue. She has successfully rehomed hundreds of animals!
I even adopted my Chloe from Evelyn! And I couldn’t be happier!
Another well deserving rescue who will be getting some much needed help this Christmas. Evelyn hasn’t been shy of taking on animals who require expensive vet care, and as we all know, those costs rise with each animal that she takes in. I am thrilled to be able to help her help all those animals in need.
So there you have it! We love donating so much to so many amazing rescues in our area! Again, thank you so much!!!
Happy Pawlidays!
