A Great Dane with a frail frame was found in the freezing rain on Dec 21 in Ontario. The details of each protruding bone told the story of the life of abuse and neglect that her soul had to endure. She is in need of help and cries out for your compassion today. Birch Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation Services (BHRR) a non-profit organization in Prescott, Ontario, was contacted by a good Samaritan that rescued this little angel. BHRR describes her condition as follows:
- Emaciated – Body condition given 2 out of 10
- Numerous infected wounds – four really bad
- Frost bite and/or possible mange on ears – has numerous small pieces missing
- No chip to be found
- Dehydrated
- Hair loss over spine, tail, elbows *Scabs over many areas of her body *Tail had been broken
- Hypothermic
- Infested with fleas
- Broken teeth
- Overgrown nails
- Unable to process food – kibble that had been given by angel who found her passed completely undigested through her body
- Terrified
As I read through the comments on their Facebook page, I see they have a wish list and I pray some of our MDB readers could assist BHRR in order to help out this gentle pup.

BHRR was one of the rescues that stepped up to help Quebec and take some of the rescue dogs in need from the alleged puppy mill seizure this past September. They took some of the special cases and continue to work with them in order for the pups to be able to find a forever home. Please remember, small donations add up in a tremendous way. Even if you can’t help financially, you can lend a hand by sharing this blog post in order to reach others far and wide.
